Obituary of Arlene Dorr Beckwith

Please share a memory of Arlene to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Arlene Beckwith loving Wife, Mother, Sister, Aunt, Grandmother and Great Grandmother left us unexpectedly on May 11, 2017 to be with our Lord.

She was born in Templeton, MA. in 1937 and lived in Winchendon, MA. and then Troy NH until 1970 when she moved with her family to Bedford, Va. Arlene retired from the Bedford School system where she was a librarian aide for 25 years, she also spent several years in the Bedford Public Library after her retirement.

She leaves the love of her life Mr. Willis Beckwith, a union that lasted 61 years, out of which they lovingly parented and raised three children.  Mr. Beckwith still resides in Bedford.  Her daughter, Deborah Graves and husband John live in SC.  Her three grandchildren she loved and cherished are Christian, Logan and Victoria and one great grandchild Madeline.

Her son Scott Beckwith and wife Susan of NC and three grandchildren she loved and adored Christina, Stephanie and David; one Great Granddaughter Haylee.

Her son,  Mark Beckwith and wife Tracy of SC and two beloved grandchildren Brooke and Hunter.  Her Sister, Patricia Dufault and husband Donald, Sr. of MA.;  eight nephews and nieces and many grand nephews and nieces.  There are also many Nephews and Nieces from Mr. Beckwith’s family that brought laughter, love and family to make her life full of love and caring.

In accordance of her wishes there will not be a service held, but her family will celebrate her life and love in privacy.   In lieu of flowers she would be thrilled that a donation to the Bedford Public Library system be made in her name.  After her family, reading was her favorite activity and to share that love with others would make her smile.

Arrangements are being handled by Updike Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Bedford.
