Obituary of Rodney Scott Hubbard

Rodney Scott Hubbard, age 53, of Bedford County, Virginia passed away unexpectedly at his home on Monday, May 22, 2017.  He was born in Winston-Salem, NC in 1964.  He was preceded in death by his father, Roby Lee Hubbard and mother, Mary Pearl Gaither Hubbard. 

Rodney leaves behind his wife, Teri Fitzgerald Hubbard; his daughters, Taylor Abbott and husband, Dwayne,  Rebecca Hubbard & fiance, John; sisters, Pamela Jonson, Sandra Murray, Karen Ferguson and brother-in-laws, Ken Jonson, Shawn Murray, Charles Ferguson as well as nieces and nephews, Jennie Branham, Nathan Ferguson, Arizona Murray, Robby Pine and Lee Murray, his in-laws Wayne and Nancy Fitzgerald; his sisters-in-law, Wanda Fitzgerald & Cindy Fitzgerald.

Rodney was a true down to earth country boy and enriched the life of everyone who knew him with his genuine warmth, generosity and sense of humor.  He worked for years with J.M. Turner Construction out of Roanoke and most recently with US Crane & Rigging. 

Pull out your bibbed overalls or something comfortable (Rodney would want it that way) and join us at 4 pm on Saturday, May 27th for Rodney’s memorial service at Updike Funeral Chapel, Bedford. Following the service, the family will receive friends and celebrate his life at the Bedford YMCA located just behind the funeral home. Arrangements are being handled by Updike Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Bedford.
