Obituary of Richard Lee Blankenship

Richard Lee Blankenship, 89 of Moneta, passed away Thursday, May 25, 2017 in Centra Bedford Memorial Hospital.  He was born July 5, 1927 in Bedford County, a son of the late Lester Jefferson Blankenship and Mollie Susie Ashwell Blankenship.  
He was a farmer and a member of Palestine Baptist Church.
He is survived by his wife of sixty-four years, Iris Smith Blankenship; his daughters, Wanda DeLong & husband, Vernon of Bedford; Donna Metcalf & husband, Mike of Moneta; his grandchildren, Crystal DeLong, Courtney DeLong, Jessica Hall & husband, Jason; his great grandson, Aiden Hall; his sister, Everlene Hoback of Roanoke.
The family will receive friends beginning at 1 PM on Saturday, May 27, 2017 at Palestine Baptist Church and a funeral service will follow at 3 PM with Dr. Kevin King & Rev. Jackie Carver officiating.  Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
