Obituary of Sallie Waid Thompson

Sallie Waid Thompson, 88 of  Bedford, passed away Monday, July 10, 2017 at  her residence.  She was born on Monday, February 18, 1929  in Bedford County, a daughter of the late Lewis Archer Waid  and Mary Julia Burroughs Waid.  She was also preceded in death by her husband, Edward Lawson Thompson.  Sallie was a loving mother, grandmother & a devoted child of God having been a lifelong member of  Mt. Olivet Southern Baptist Church.  

She is survived by her daughters, Patricia  Stanley & husband, Ed of Bedford, Judy Ward & husband, Kyle of Forest, Terry Woody & husband, Michael of Hanover; her sister, Maxine Cheek of Lynchburg as well as 11 grandchildren, 23 great grandchildren, 3 great great grandchildren & her best friend, her little dog, Mack.  

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Thursday, July 13, 2017 at Mt. Olivet Southern Baptist Church with Rev. Joe Elmore officiating.  Interment will follow in the church cemetery.  The family will receive friends Wednesday from 5 until 7 PM at Updike Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Bedford.
