Obituary of Bonnie Eckart Toms

Bonnie Eckart Toms, 77 of  Bedford, passed away Thursday, October 19, 2017 at Centra Lynchburg General Hospital.  She was born on Sunday, July 28, 1940  in Bedford County, a daughter of the late Edward Paul Eckart  and Mary Forbes Eckart.  She was also preceded in death by her step-mother, Irene Eckart & a brother, Paul Eckart.

She is survived by her husband, Ronald Lynn Toms; her son, John Mitchell & wife, Rhonda of Bedford; her brother, Jerry Eckart & wife, Marie of Bedford; her mother-in-law, Dora D. Toms; her sisters-in-law, Glenda Eckart, Wanda Toms and Sheila Orange; one niece and several nephews.   

She was a member of Faith Hope Ministries and the family requests those wishing to make memorials to consider the Church and send to Faith Hope Ministries, c/o Dora Toms, 1311 Mine Road, Bedford, VA 24523.  

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM on Sunday, October 22, 2017 at Updike Funeral Chapel, Bedford with Rev. Joe Thompson & Rev. Earl Ragland officiating.  Interment will follow in Suck Spring Baptist Church Cemetery.  The family will receive friends Saturday afternoon from 4 until 6 PM at Updike Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Bedford.
