Johannes "John"  Mannikus, Jr., 70 of  Huddleston, passed away Wednesday, November 22, 2017 at the VA Medical Center.  He was born on Wednesday, December 4, 1946 in Offenbach, Germany, a son of the late Johannes Mannikus, Sr. and Tatjana Magi Mannikus. 

He was a retired truck driver, a member of Resurrection Catholic Church and a proud veteran of the U. S. Army having served in Vietnam. 

He is survived by his daughters, Rachel Mannikus & husband, William Meyer of Huddleston, Gretchen Mannikus of Mississippi; his adopted daughters, Kimberly Van Arsdale of Huddleston, Cindy Nieto of Toms River, NJ; his brother, Uku Mannikus of Jackson, NJ; his sister, Marina Carcich of Toms River, NJ; his granddaughter & only grandchild, Summer Mannikus of Huddleston; his godson & nephew, Eric Mannikus of Manchester, NJ as well as numerous nieces and nephews and many four legged children.  

The family will receive friends beginning at 10:30 AM on Monday, December 4, 2017 at Resurrection Catholic Church and a funeral mass will follow at 11:00 AM with military rites by Altavista Post 36 and Gretna Post 232 following the mass.  A reception will follow in the church social hall.  Arrangements are being handled by Updike Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Bedford.
