William Bernard (Weegie) Bowden, 54,of Huddleston, Va. was called home to meet his Lord, July 20,2010. Weegie was born March 10, 1956 in Bedford County, a son of Lucienne D. Bowden of Bedford who survives and the late Gussie M. Bowden, Jr. He was also preceded in death by two brothers, Roger and Jerry Bowden, and his wife Deanna Keith Bowden. Weegie was self-employed, a carpenter by trade, building many homes in our area. He loved to hunt, fish, farm, and was quite the gardner. He loved his family. Weegie lost his wife when his two sons were very young and reared them to adulthood, all on his own. Those left to rejoice in his life in addition to his mother, are his sons Brandon Bowden, Michael Bowden and J.W. Keith, his three sisters and their husbands, Ingrid and Travis Woodford of Huddleston, Kathy and Ronnie Updike of Bedford, Brenda and Brent Padgett of Bedford and one brother, David P. Bowden of Body Camp, along with many nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews. A memorial service to celebrate William's life will be held Thursday, July 22nd, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. at the Huddleston Church of God of Prophecy, Huddleston, Virginia. Rev. Wayne Murphy will officiate. The family will receive friends following the services, however friends may call anytime at the home of Travis and Ingrid Woodford, 2376 Smith Mtn. Lake Pkwy, Huddleston, Virginia.
