Obituary of Nancy Creasy Campbell

Please share a memory of Nancy to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
The angels came on August 15, 2014 and took Nancy Creasy Campbell home to be with her heavenly Father & her loved ones who were there before her. She was of the Methodist faith & when in Martinsville attended the Chatham Heights United Methodist Church. She was 86 years old and was born on Saturday, February 25, 1928 in Bedford County, a daughter of the late Albert Creasy and Clara Wilkes Creasy. After graduating from high school, she moved to Martinsville where she worked for the Dupont Company. She married John Campbell who preceded her in death. After his death, she bought her home on 107 Tanyard Road in Hurt and moved to be closer to family. She enjoyed her home for many years before moving to Autumn Care Rehab & Nursing Home in Altavista. There she made friends with the nurses, CNA's and the others that worked there. They were truly good to her. She also was cared for by the Erma Moon family who looked after & loved her just as their own mother. You can be sure when they came with food for Mrs. Moon, there was enough for Nancy too! Nancy was one of eight children, three of whom preceded her in death; her sisters, Doris C. Hackworth, Naomi Saunders & a brother, Lawrence Creasy. Those who survive her are her brother, Willie Creasy & wife, Ruth of LA; sisters, Nadine Mitchell of Orange, Margaret Hypes & husband, Harry of Waynesboro, Orelia "Ann" Donaldson & husband, Royce of FL; sister-in-law, Hallie Creasy of Danville; a special nephew, Lonnie Hackworth & wife, Brenda of Evington who took care of her needs while she stayed at Autumn Care as well as many other nieces & nephews. The family requests those wishing to make memorials to consider Autumn Care Rehab & Nursing Home, 1317 Lola Avenue, Altavista, VA 24517. Funeral services will be held on Monday, August 18, 2014 at 2:00 pm at Updike Funeral Chapel, Huddleston with Rev. Carlton Gunter officiating. Interment will follow in Leftwich Cemetery. The family will receive friends Monday from 1 PM until the time of the service at Updike Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Huddleston.
