Obituary of Verona Mitchell Austin

Verona Mitchell Austin, 93 of Huddleston, passed away Friday, January 16, 2015 at Carriage Hill Retirement Home. She was born on Tuesday, October 11, 1921 in Bedford County, a daughter of the late Norman E. Mitchell and Verta Piney Kasey Mitchell. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Roy Synkler Austin and a foster sister, Altie Sink Price. She was a past employee of Elks National Home and was a member of Huddleston Church of God of Prophecy. Surviving is her son, Roy Sherman Austin & wife, Dianne L. of Huddleston; grandchildren, David Austin, Kelly A. Tuck, both of Huddleston, Sarah A. Fisher of Moneta, Julie A. Witcher of Lynchburg; great-grandchildren Codey Turner, Christian & Nathan Tuck. The family requests those wishing to make memorials to consider Huddleston Church of God of Prophecy, c/o Alicia Tuck, 14045 Waytt's Way, Bedford, VA 24523. Funeral services will be held on Monday, January 19, 2015 at 2:00 pm at Updike Funeral Chapel, Huddleston with Rev. Wayne Murphy & Pastor Kenneth Lafon officiating. Interment will follow in Bethesda United Methodist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends Monday beginning at 1 PM and until the time of the service at Updike Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Huddleston.
