Obituary of James Daniel Tweedy

Jimmy Tweedy of Altavista passed away peacefully on Thursday April 2, 2015 at Centra Health's Medical ICU in Lynchburg, VA. He courageously fought cancer for the past four months, never losing his faith in God and spirit to live each day to it's fullest. Jimmy has joined his beloved parents James Vernard Tweedy and Margaret West Tweedy for an eternity in heaven. Also preceding him in death is a niece, Melissa Tweedy Whitlet and a nephew, Kevin Neal. He leaves behind three brothers, John W. Tweedy and wife Dee, David Tweedy and wife Lynn, and Paul Tweedy, all of the Huddleston area. Jimmy also has three sisters, Becky Stevens, Barbara Williams also of the Huddleston area and Lilly Arlene Moss of North Eastern, VA. Jimmy will be sadly missed by his life-long companion, wife and best friend, Ginger Bell Tweedy. He has one son, James W.(Jamey) Tweedy and wife, Katrina(Tina) & their children, Bo and Daisy of Altavista; a daughter, Melanie Lynn Tweedy and her children Kirstin Childress of Gladys and Emily Tweedy are also mourning the loss. A Celebration of life for Jimmy Tweedy will be held at 2PM on Sunday, April 12, 2015 at the Huddleston Church of God of Prophecy. Family and friends will meet at the home at various times. Special thanks to all friends and family, especially, his sister-in-law Sandy Kelly who spent many hours with Jimmy on his difficult journey. Also special thanks to Centa Lynchburg Hematology Oncology-Cancer Center's, Dr.Kathleen Paul, and the entire staff at Centra Health Hospital for their superior care of him. Instead of flowers the family request to send any contributions to the Cancer Center research fund in Lynchburg, Va. Arrangements are being handled by Updike Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Huddleston.
