Obituary of Paul Joseph Jones

GONE HOME, HUGGING ANGELS Paul “Fuzzy” Joseph Blum Jones, age 77, of Bedford completed earth’s journey January 25, 2016. Preceding him are parents Alfons and Ana Blum, brothers Jr. and Sonny, adoptive parents Willard and Betty Jones, and Grandson Samuel Tuck. Born in Chicago IL, raised in Morristown NJ, he proudly served in the US Army Reserve. On a weekend trip to Virginia Paul found the love of his life in Floyd County. They then moved to Virginia and attended Jordantown Wesleyan Church for nearly 50 years. Paul worked at GE for 35 years before retiring. Paul loved God and life. He was always ready with a hug especially for ALL the ladies. He looked forward to Senior Bingo, and enjoyed yard sales and Flea Markets, always looking for antiques and deals. Most of all he loved being with his family and friends and playing with the grand and great-grandchildren. Paul’s journey-mate for 53 years was his best friend and loving wife Mary Ellen Hill Jones. God blessed them with a wonderful family of two daughters, Audrey Jones Garay and husband, Steve, and Wanda Jones Tuck and husband, Douglas; 6 Grandchildren, Chantry & wife Rachel, Jennifer, Shane & wife Jasmine, Joseph, Ben, and Anna; 8 Great Grandchildren, Landen, Gabe, Nevaeh, Alexander, Elizabeth, Max, Isaak and Isabelle. Paul loved and was loved by “heart adopted” sons and daughters from here to Germany. While flowers are always appreciated, Paul loved his church, and it would honor him for donations to go there, Jordantown Wesleyan Church, 5812 Jordantown Road, Vinton, VA 24179 or to your favorite charity. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, January 30, 2016 at 11 AM at Updike Funeral Chapel, Bedford with Pastor Matt Reynolds officiating. Interment will follow in Virginia Memorial Park. The family will receive friends Friday from 4 until 7 PM at Updike Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Bedford.
