Obituary of Geraldine Annette Franklin Dooley

Jeri’ Geraldine Franklin Dooley, 68, Jeri was born on August 8, 1947, in Norfolk, Va., to Alton Cline Franklin Sr and Mary Barton Franklin. She was married to James C. Kennedy, with whom she felt very blessed to be mother to their children, Kimberly, Tamberly, Jennifer, and James Jr (whom passed weeks after birth). Jeri lived in her home in Roanoke Va. for over 42 years. Recently she was embraced with loving arms to her daughter, son in-law, and grandkids home where she lived during her final stages of cancer. Though diagnosed with cancer, she amazed us all with her immense strength, courage, and unwavering faith in God. She has said numerous times how blessed and thankful she was to have the love and prayers of many family and friends, and God by her side. She passed away peacefully on Saturday, April 23, 2016 at 10:50pm. There is a beautiful family reunion taking place in Heaven with those of whom proceeded her in death: her beloved father and mother; brothers, Lenwood, Eugene, Clifton, Benjamin; sister, Janet, grandson Chase Jones, and beloved son James C. Kennedy Jr. Survived by husband Marshall Dooley, daughters Kimberly, Tamberly and Jennifer, 14 grandchildren, and 6 great grandchildren. Visitation will be held from 10 am to 12 noon on Wednesday, April 27, 2016, at Updike Funeral Home & Cremation Service in Bedford Va. Funeral Services will be conducted the same day immediately following the viewing at 12 noon at Updike Funeral Chapel. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to your local charity of choice.
