Fred Rudolph Woodford, 87 of Huddleston, passed away Monday, June 20, 2016 at Centra Lynchburg General Hospital. He was born on Sunday, May 12, 1929 in Bedford County, a son of the late Gilbert E. Woodford and Lela Wilson Woodford. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Anemerald "Emma" Phillips Woodford; brothers, Kyle E. Woodford, Gilbert E. Woodford & sisters, Una W. Jones, Myrtle W. Anderson, Minnie A. Woodford, Edith W. Smith & Bessie W. Johnson. He was retired from Fred B. Fuqua Construction Company, was a member of Mentow Baptist Church and a veteran of the U. S. Army having served during the Korean War. He is survived by his brother, Davis E. Woodford & wife, Brenda of Huddleston. The family requests that those wishing to make memorials to consider Mentow Baptist Church Cemetery, 3282 Mentow Drive, Huddleston, VA 24104. Funeral services will be held at the graveside on Saturday, June 25, 2016 at 3 PM at Mentow Baptist Church Cemetery with Rev. Greg Soult & Rev. Wayne Murphy officiating. There will be no visitation. Arrangements are being handled by Updike Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Huddleston.
