Harold Gene "Cotton" Sexton, 70 of Bedford, passed away Saturday, July 2, 2016 at Bedford County Nursing Home. He was born on Friday, December 14, 1945 in Cincinnati, OH, a son of the late William Philmore Sexton and Lillian Marie Blackburn Sexton. He was also preceded in death by his foster father, Calvin W. "Buck" Tolley, his brothers, William Gregory Sexton, Carl Bryant Sexton and his sister, Linda K. DeYoung. Cotton enjoyed singing and playing the guitar and loved to shoot pool. He was very personable and never met a stranger. He played bingo at the nursing home and enjoyed making necklaces. He is survived by his foster mother, Lottie Tolley of Bedford; brothers, Ronnie Sexton of TX, Gary Allen Sexton & wife, Dorita of Norfolk, VA; his sisters, Judy S. Pendleton & husband, Doug of Lynchburg; Evelyn Tolley of Bedford as well as numerous nieces and nephews. The family would like to thank everyone at the Bedford County Nursing Home for their kind and considerate care over the years. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, July 6, 2016 at 12:00 pm at Updike Funeral Chapel, Bedford with Pastor Ray Lyons & Pastor Dan Dibble officiating. The family will receive friends Wednesday beginning at 10:30 am and until the time of the service at Updike Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Bedford.
