Maxine Cox Hannabass, 73 of Moneta, VA. went home to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on November 15, 2010. She was born on July 4, 1937 to the late Marcus & Curtis Ferguson Cox. She was preceded in death by her husband, Lewis "Frog" Hannabass. Surviving to cherish her memory are her children, Teresa Rogers and husband Ralph, Gary Hannabass and wife Karen, Ricky Hannabass and wife Annette; grandchildren; Austin Hannabass and Sierra Hannabass, Chrissy Hannabass and family friend Sharon Greene, step-grandchildren; David Rogers, Emily Hall, Ashley Hart and husband Kevin, Savanah Bryant and Edwyn Graterol and wife Lindsay, brothers and sisters; M.J. Cox Jr. and wife Sylvia, Hertha Nichols and her late husband Charles Roy, Wendell Cox and wife Margie, Sharon McLauglin and husband Jerry, numerous sisters and brothers-in-law, nieces and nephews and very special family friends, Jane Watson and husband Allen. Maxine was a devoted servant and loved serving our Lord through her church, Diamond Hill Baptist Church and previously Morgan's Baptist Church. Maxine will be best remembered as someone who selflessly cared for others by raising her family, caring for her parents and her husband. The family will receive friends for a celebration of Maxine's life on Wednesday, November 17 from 5-8 PM at Updike Funeral Home & Cremation SErvice, Bedford. A funeral service will be conducted at the Diamond Hill Baptist Church at 3:00 PM on Thursday, November 18, 2010 with the Rev. Ken Butterworth officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. In lieu of flowers the family asks that you consider donations to the Diamond Hill Baptist Church, 3451 Horseshoe Bend Road, Moneta VA 24121 or the Roanoke Rescue Mission.
