Robert Henry Terry, Jr., of Moneta, was called home on a special day on Tuesday, December 25, 2018. He was 87 years old. Born on June 24, 1931 to the late Robert Henry Terry, Sr. and Clara Abshire Terry.
Bob served in the United States Army during the Korean War. He was an avid fisherman and hunter. He was also an expert archerer and won several state championships and qualified for the nationals. He retired from Berglund Chevrolet in Roanoke as a Parts Manager. He then purchased an old country store in Moneta that he named Terry's Country Corner where he has operated for the past 40 years. Bob always preferred to call what he did at the store as "piddling" instead of work and always referred to a bag as a "poke" for his customers to carry their purchases in.
To cherish his memory, Bob leaves behind his wife of 27 years, Joyce S. Terry of Moneta; two sons, Robert H. Terry, III and wife, Sue of South Dakota and Matthew C. Terry and wife, Kim of Goodview; two daughters, Janet L. Terry of Vinton and Jo Anna Shropshire and husband, Doug of Roanoke; grandchildren, Trevor and Travis Terry, Robert H. Terry IV, Melissa Reitzel, Doug, Dustin, Darren, Dillon and Devin Shropshire, Kayla Kelly and Bailey Terry; great grandchildren, Tristen and Trinity Terry, Myranda, Tyler and Noah Terry, Madalynn Reitzel, Desmond and Juli Shropshire and Blake Kelly. Also left to cherish his memory are his step-sons, William Overstreet, Jeffrey Overstreet and wife, Phyliss, Jimmy Overstreet and wife, Angela & step-grandchildren, Jordan, Grayson and Lucas Overstreet.
The family will recieve friends beginning at noon on Saturday, December 29, 2018 at Updike Funeral Home, Bedford. Funeral services will begin at 2:00 pm in the Chapel with Pastor Wayne Sellar officiating. Interment will be held at Holy Land with military honors by Fort Lee Honor Guard.
