Gwendolyn Parker Craig Obituary

Gwendolyn Sue Parker Craig, 73, of Bedford, passed away on Sunday, February 4, 2024. She was born on Tuesday, May 9, 1950, the daughter of the late Lonnie Henry Parker and Christine Wood Parker. She was also preceded in death by her husband of 48 years, Leonard W. Craig, Sr.; brothers, Lonnie Thomas Parker & Donald Ray Parker; sister, Nancy Parker Mitchell.


Gwen started working as a bookkeeper while still in high school at Southern Flavoring later retired from the City of Bedford.


She is survived by her step-sons, Leonard William (L.W.) Craig, Jr. (Barbara) & Alan Russell (Rusty) Craig (Cheryl); grandchildren, Jessica Kennedy (Thomas), Charis Bostian (Jonah), Justin Craig (Chelsea) & Caleb Craig (Kandace); great-grandchildren, Judson Bostian, Ayda Craig, Barrett Craig, Cannon Bostian, Charlotte Bostian & Letty Craig; her siblings, Karen Parker Waldron (Johnny); Michael Parker (Rhonda); many nieces & nephews that she loved to spoil.


In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.


The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 PM on Wednesday, February 7, 2024 at Updike Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Bedford and from 1 PM until the service at 2 PM on Thursday, February 8, 2024 at Updike Funeral Chapel, Bedford with Pastor Ross Gilfillen, Pastor Danny Holdren and Pastor Earl Ragland officiating. Interment will follow in Greenwood Cemetery.
