Obituary of Doris O'Dell Hoskins Jones
It is with much sadness but also abundant joy that we share the passing of our beloved mother, Doris O'Dell Hoskins Jones of Altavista, who met Jesus on March 4, 2025 at the age of 84. She fought a courageous battle with dementia and we are so thankful that she is now resting in the arms of God.
Mama was preceded in death by her longtime partner, Fletcher D. Pleasant, lovingly known as Pop Pop, her father and mother, Walter John Hoskins and Mattie Lou Hall Hoskins and a multitude of siblings, relatives and friends.
She leaves behind five children who loved her dearly and she loved with all of her heart, Candace Rivers, Leona Jones Welsh, Charlotte Jones Miller (Scott), Kenneth Jones and Dolly Jones Peak Williamson (Brian); fourteen grandchildren who were her world, Tera Mackinaw, Jonathon Rivers, Cory Welsh, Madeline Welsh, Kesi Miller, Gabrielle Miller, Ashley Ryan, Casey Jones, Erin Howard, Bonnie Adams, Faith Jones, Hunter Jones Peak, Rosie Jones Peak, Wyatt Jones Peak as well as six great grandchildren.
Mama loved her family more than anything, and she would drop everything if any of them needed anything. She was never so happy as when the family gathered and cooking was involved; add in some music and dancing and her world was perfect! She was a people person who never met a stranger. She loved her Lord and Savior and enjoyed singing and praising His name.
Although we will dearly miss her, her legacy will live on and we look forward to the day that we are all reunited together safe in Jesus' arms.
