Obituary of Pamela Sue Holdren Orange
It is with a heavy heart and unbearable sadness that we must announce the unexpected passing of our beloved warrior and hero, Pamela Holdren Orange. She was born in Bedford County, Virginia on April 4, 1967, to James Douglas Holdren, Sr. and Judy Wyath Love Holdren, both of whom predeceased her.
Pam faced many physical and personal battles throughout her short life, but she persevered and always, always, found the strength to keep going. She raised two daughters, working multiple jobs at a time to support herself and them, until she met the man who fell head over heels for her and would be by her side to help her in struggles, her devoted husband, Terry L. Orange, who survives her.
Like her parents, Pam had a passion for all things gardening, bird watching, all of nature in its beauty and she cherished conveying those passions through her beautiful photography, which she shared with her followers on social media. Regardless of her disability, she was always ready to help others in their struggles, no matter what pain she may have been experiencing herself, and she didn't appreciate anyone expressing to her that she couldn't or shouldn't, which only made her more determined to do it just to prove she could. Over the last two years, she steadfastly cared for her mother, then her father, during prolonged illnesses right up until their passing. Pam was a loving wife, mother, and mawmaw; as well as beloved and cherished sister, best friend and confidant. She loved her family immensely but loved the Lord even more. She never faltered in her religious beliefs and said many times that she was always ready for when God called her home. She never missed an opportunity to bring the Lord into conversation and praise his glory. She knew where she was going when her time on this earth was done.
Pam was a beautiful soul, such a strong scoliosis warrior and she refused to let it slow her down, but her little body was worn out and just would not allow her to continue on, which has broken our hearts and left a void that will never be filled. She will forever be a young 57 years old, beautiful and what we all strive to be; our hero and now our angel. We will miss you hummingbird…..tiny, beautiful in your splendor and always on the move.
In addition to her husband, Pam is survived by her loving daughters, Serenna A. Mitchen, Brittany L. Boyles (Dustin) and Megan E. Orange, all of Bedford, Virginia; and seven grandchildren whom she cherished, Thomas Barlow, Leigha Boyles, Isaiah Boyles, Oakley Elkins, Matthew Barlow, Jr., Haylee Harris and Hunter Musgrove. She is also survived by her devoted sister and best friend, Zandra H. Dorr (Mark) of Naola, Virginia, and two brothers, James D. (Jim) Holdren, Jr. (Tammy Sue) of Bedford, Pennsylvania and Johnathan G. Holdren (Amber) of Bedford, Virginia; a beloved brother in law and sister in law, Ricky and Deborah Orange of Bedford, Virginia as well as numerous nieces, nephews and cousins and not to be forgotten; her best little furry buddy, Oscar, who will be lost without his mommy.
We would like to request that in lieu of flowers, please just donate a little of your time and energy to someone in need. Make one small act of kindness to someone in Pam's memory. If she could, and frequently did so despite her physical handicap and any pain she may have been experiencing, then so can you.
Per Pam's wishes, there will be no services. Arrangements are being handled by Updike Funeral Home & Cremation.
