Wayne Lee Fitzgerald, 82 of Bedford, passed away Saturday, March 29, 2025 at his residence. He was born on Friday, January 22, 1943 in Bedford, a son of the late Odell Lee Fitzgerald and Blanche Rice Fitzgerald McLain. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Nancy Roberts Fitzgerald & two sisters, Betty Fitzgerald Brookshier & Jeanette Fitzgerald Overstreet.

Wayne retired from Erie Insurance as an adjuster, but started his career as an auto body technician at Murray Chevrolet and Citty Ford and for a time was owner of Bedford Body & Fender.

He was a loving and devoted father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend. He loved watching football, basketball, Nascar, going to shooting matches and listening to bluegrass. He loved spending time with his girls and his great grandson. He enjoyed daily phone calls with many friends including Don Johnson.

He is survived by his daughters, Wanda Fitzgerald, Teri Fitzgerald Hubbard and Cindy Fitzgerald Elliott (Larry); his sister, Janet Fitzgerald Powers (Larry); his granddaughters, Taylor Hubbard (Danny), Rebecca Hubbard (Austin); a great grandson, Colton Cheek; brothers-in-law, Larry Roberts (Debbie), Richard Roberts (Sherry), Gerald Jones; a sister-in-law, Dorothy "Dot" Miller (Randy); a special friend, Dottie Ellis as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 11 AM on Wednesday, April 2, 2025 at Updike Funeral Chapel, Bedford with Dallas Key officiating. Interment will follow in Greenwood Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5 until 7 PM on Tuesday, April 1, 2025 at Updike Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Bedford.
