







Obituary of Robert Kenneth Nichols, Jr.
Robert K. "Nick" Nichols, Jr., 76 of Lynchburg, met his heavenly father on Saturday, May 3, 2025. Born on Saturday, December 25, 1948 in Bedford County, he was the eldest son of the late Robert Kenneth Nichols, Sr. and Lois Dowdy Nichols of Huddleston.
Surviving to cherish his memory is his beloved wife, Geri, along with his brothers, Barry (Marie), Phillip (Lisa); sister, Rebecca (Scott) Wille. Also surviving are Geri's daughters, whom Nick loved as his own, Tracy (Mark) Fabian, Crystal (Todd) Poston, and his step-son, Rodney Thompson. In addition are seven step grandchildren, Randyl (Robbie) Dodd, Aaron (Isabelle) Fabian, Allison Poston, Benjamin Pace, Evan Pace, Delaney Poston and Devan Thompson. Additional loved ones include his nephews, Cory and Ryan Nichols and niece, Sierra Nichols, along with Uncle Wayne Dowdy, Aunt Jeanette Harris and Aunt Betty Hawkins and many other family members and friends who will cherish his memory.
Nick served his country proudly in the U.S. Navy. After his honorable service to our country, Nick was employed with Southern Air for 42 years. Through his outgoing personality, friends came easily to Nick. Friends and family will fondly remember him as a fun loving guy who enjoyed NASCAR races, fishing and storytelling.
A special thank you to caretaker and friend, Hamilton Holliday. The family also wishes to express their sincere gratitude to the staff of Runk & Pratt Assisted Living on Leesville Road for their loving care of Nick.

A graveside service will be held at 11 AM on Wednesday, May 7, 2025 in the Mentow Baptist Church Cemetery, 3282 Mentow Drive, Huddleston with Pastor Steve Reeves, Pastor Tyler Lucas and Rev. Wayne Murphy officiating. After the service, the family welcomes friends and loved ones to visit the home of Nick and Geri from 1 until 3 PM to celebrate Nick's life through fellowship and the sharing of stories.
