Obituary of Wanda Tuck Dellis

Please share a memory of Wanda to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Wanda Tuck Dellis, of Huddleston, a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, and friend, went home to be with the Lord unexpectedly on June 3, 2025 at the age of 77.

Wanda Mae was born May 1, 1948 to Olan and Berdie Tuck in Leesville, Virginia. She is survived by her devoted husband of 56 years, Douglas Dellis; her daughters, Danah Weeks (Keith) and Stefanie Deel (Bruce); her son, Bryant Dellis; five grandchildren, Madelyn Weeks, Ava Deel, Julia Deel, Lona Deel, and Douglas James (DJ) Dellis; and great grandchildren, Peter, Nolan, Kaiden, Mariah & CJ Weeks. Her beloved first grandchild, Trevor Weeks & her step-granddaughter, Kori Weeks preceded her in death. Wanda grew up in Leesville, Virginia with her five brothers and two sisters: her oldest brother Claudius preceded her in death, and surviving are Claudius’ wife, Sandy, brother Danny Tuck (Ginx), Herman Tuck (Debbie, deceased), Gloria Cooper (George), Ricky Tuck (Susan), Barry Tuck (Betty), and Cheryl “Cookie” Stevens (David), and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins, all of whom she cherished. Wanda graduated from Staunton River High School in 1966.

On September 21, 1968, Wanda married Douglas at Palestine Baptist Church and they began their life together in Huddleston, Virginia. When Danah, Bryant, and Stefanie were school-aged, she entered the workforce, ultimately retiring from Ross Laboratories in 2002 after 20 years of service. In retirement, she enjoyed gardening, appreciating the view of the sunset over the Peaks of Otter out her sunroom windows, Bible studies, Putt-Putt golf, and hikes with her Tuck cousins, forming and sustaining heart-to-heart connections with so many people. Everyone remembers Wanda’s continuous nurturing of her family with love, food, and faith. If you came to her house, you wouldn’t leave hungry. Everyone looked forward to her coconut cake each year at Christmas dinner. She truly had a servant’s heart, giving of her time, presence, and sweet spirit to anyone in need.
