Barbara Powers Mitchell, 94 of  Huddleston, passed away Wednesday, June 25, 2025 at  Centra Lynchburg General Hospital.  She was born on Thursday, August 28, 1930  in Bedford, a daughter of the late Omar Powers and Edith Hogan Gibbs.  She was also preceded in death by husband, Edwin Douglas Mitchell, Sr., her sons, Edwin Douglas Mitchell, Jr., Ronald Dave Mitchell, her daughter, Robin Leigh Mitchell Creasey & her brother & sister-in-law, Jimmy Powers (Norma).

Barbara was a school bus driver for Bedford County Public Schools for many years.   

She is survived by her grandsons, Shannon Creasey, Edwin D. Mitchell III; her granddaughter, Kerri Ward (Trevor); a great granddaughter, Miranda as well as her  daughter-in-law, Jaclyn Mitchell.  

The family will receive friends beginning at 10 AM on Tuesday, July 1, 2025 at Huddleston Church of God of Prophecy and a funeral service will follow at 11:00 am with Rev. Wayne Murphy officiating.  Interment will be private in the Mentow Baptist Church Cemetery.
