Douglas Ray Wood, 80 of Altavista, passed away Thursday, September 18, 2025 at Autumn Care of Altavista. He was born on Tuesday, November 21, 1944 in Bedford County, a son of the late John Edward Wood, Sr. and Irma Melissa Roberts Wood. He was also preceded in death by his sister, Jacqueline Rhymes & brothers, Ralph Owen Wood, Bryan Vernon Wood, Larry Eugene Wood, John E. Wood, Jr.
He retired from the U. S. Air Force as a Radar Technician. He liked old cars.
He is survived by his sister, Gloria Wood Sloss and numerous nieces & nephews.
Services will be private. Arrangements are being handled by Updike Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Bedford.
