Janie Holland Overstreet, 93 of Bedford passed away Thursday, November 6, 2025.  She was born August 17, 1932 in Bedford County, a daughter of the late William A. Holland and Emma Wells Holland.  She was preceded in death by her husband, Melvin A. “Jake” Overstreet.

Janie worked along side her husband, Jake for many years in his appliance repair business and was a member of Hickory Grove Community Church.  Janie (Grandma) was one of the strongest women we’ve ever known. She faced every challenge with grace and resilience, never letting anything bring her down. She loved each of us deeply and always made time for a call or a visit. Her warmth and strength will be remembered always.

She is survived by her sons, Tommy R. Overstreet and Steven W. Overstreet (Jeanette);  her grandsons, Ryan A. Overstreet (Mary Beth) and Morgan H. Overstreet; her granddaughter, Leigh A. Rittenhouse (Brian); a great-granddaughter, Ana Rose Rittenhouse and a great-grandson, Beau Rittenhouse.

In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to Hickory Grove Church, C/O Nancy Adams, 2607 Triggs Road, Bedford, VA,  24523 in her honor.

A graveside service will be held at 11 AM on Saturday, November 8, 2025 in Oakwood Cemetery with Pastor William Clark officiating. There is no visitation.
