George Arthur Woods Obituary

George Arthur Woods, 90 of  Bedford, passed away Wednesday, November 19, 2025 at  Centra Lynchburg General Hospital.  He was born on Tuesday, March 12, 1935  in Warrenton, VA, a son of the late George Merton Woods  and Mabel Christine Herndon Woods.  He was also preceded in death by his first wife, Charlotte Ann Moyer Woods, his daughter, Anne-Marie Woods Overstreet and two grandsons, Brett Austin Smith and Billy Tibbs. 


He was a retired minister, a veteran of the U. S. Marine Corps. and was a member of the Marine Corps. League, the American Legion Post #74, Friends of Israel Gospel Ministry, Inc., the Berean Call, Mission Link and National D-Day Memorial.


George is survived by his wife, Sue Perry Woods; his sons, Hal Tibbs (Twinkle), Garry Tibbs (Connie), Steven Dinwiddie (Pam); his daughters, Teresa Tibbs Eger (Billy), Christine Smith (Jeff), Kimberly Pineda (Charlie); his sister, Christine Carol Moser (Paul); his brother, Rev. Colonel Charles E. Woods, USAF Ret. (Patricia) as well as eleven grandchildren, nine great grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews and many close friends.

A memorial service to celebrate the life of George will be held at 11 AM on Saturday, November 29, 2025 at Eastlake Community Church, 1201 Timberwood Lane, Moneta, VA 24121 with Pastor Troy Keaton officiating.  Arrangements are being handled by Updike Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Bedford.
