Mary Willie Liz Nichols Obituary

Mary Willie Liz Logwood Nichols, 94, of Evington, passed away on Monday, February2, 2026 at Centra Lynchburg General Hospital.  She was born on Saturday, March 7, 1931 to the late George Buck Logwood & Mary Elizabeth Cox Logwood.  Mary was also preceded in death by her husband, Marshall Lee Nichols; sons, Odell, Linwood, David & Danny Nichols; daughter, Frances Brown; brothers, Tommy, George, Roosevelt, Oscar & Charlie Logwood; sisters, Anna Newman, Mildred Gingo, Estelle Logwood & Eva Hedrick; sons-in-law, Paul Brown & Walsa Hawkins & daughter-in-law, Jan Nichols.


Mary was a member of Bethlehem Baptist Church.  She enjoyed coaching softball & baseball. Mary enjoyed helping her community & church members when they were sick. She loved everybody and witnessed to anyone to lead them to follow Christ.


She is survived by her sons, Tommy Nichols (Karen), Garry “Rusty” Nichols (Connie), Bobby Nichols (Ella) & James Nichols (Michelle); daughters, Helen Jolley (Teresa Pulliam), Barbara Hawkins & Elizabeth Nichols; sisters, Eunice Green (John) & Edna Elliott (Beatrum) & brothers, Calvin Logwood & Sam Logwood; daughters-in-law, Connie Nichols, Jean Nichols as well as many grandchildren, great grandchildren, great great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other family members & friends.


A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, February 7, 2026 at Bethlehem Baptist Church with Pastor Barry Link officiating.  Interment will follow in the church cemetery.  The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. on Friday, February 6, 2026 at Updike Funeral Home, Huddleston.
