Ruth Wilson Cundiff, 95 of Bedford, passed away Thursday, August 28, 2014 at Oakwood Health & Rehab. Center. She was born on Saturday, June 28, 1919 in Bedford County, VA, a daughter of the late Cornelius Jackson Wilson and Artie Mae Newman Wilson. She was also preceded in death by a son, Irvin Dennis Cundiff, Jr. and a daughter-in-law, Shirley H. Cundiff. She was a weaver at Bedford Weaving Mill and was a member of Timber Ridge Baptist Church. Surviving is her son, Jimmy "Shorty" Cundiff; a daughter, Janice Cundiff Hiatt & husband, Larry; grandsons, Jimmy W. Cundiff, Jr. & wife, Liane, Jeffrey Edward Cundiff & wife, Tammy Wheeler, Gergory Cundiff McFaden; great-grandchildren, Savannah, Ethan & Ella Cundiff; a daughter-in-law, Judy Cundiff McFaden & a special nephew, Donald Musgrove. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, those wishing to make memorials are asked to consider Timber Ridge Baptist Church Building Fund, 3234 Timber Ridge Road, Bedford, VA 24523 or Thaxton Baptist Church Building Fund, 1067 Penicks Mill Road, Thaxton, VA 24174. Funeral services will be held at the graveside at Greenwood Cemetery on Saturday, August 30, 2014 at 2:00 pm with Pastor Phillip Kelley officiating. The family will receive friends Saturday from 12 noon until 1:30 PM at Updike Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Bedford.
