Obituary of Earl William Jones

Earl William Jones, 83 of  Thaxton, passed away Sunday, July 16, 2017 at  the Veterans Administration Hospital, Salem.  He was born on Thursday, March 22, 1934  in Bedford County, a son of the late Boyd James Jones and Mabel Hawkins Jones.  

He was a member of Thaxton Baptist Church, the Lynchburg Elks Lodge # 321 and was a veteran of the U. S. Army having served during the Korean War.  

He is survived by his brother, Jesse C. "Dicky" Jones of Thaxton.  

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, July 19, 2017 at Updike Funeral Chapel, Bedford with Rev. Ronald Toms & Rev. Bob Sowder officiating.  Interment, with military honors will follow in Thaxton Baptist Church Cemetery.  The family will receive friends Tuesday from 6 until 8 PM at Updike Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Bedford.
