Obituary of Guy Cecil Johnson

Guy Cecil Johnson, 79 of Thaxton, passed away Saturday, December 9, 2017 at his residence.  He was born on Friday, October 28, 1938  in Botetourt County, a son of the late Cecil Orville Johnson and Ola Gertrude Wilkerson Johnson. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Velma Witt Johnson and a daughter, Judy Johnson.

He was retired from Babcock & Wilcox and was a past member of the National Guard.

He is survived by his daughter, Elizabeth  Johnson (Paul Lawhorn) of Thaxton;  son, Guy Allen Johnson of Altavista; a sister, Arlene Marie Hamm of Cheyenne, WY as well as four grandchildren and one great grandchild.  

The family will receive friends beginning at 11:30 AM on Monday, December 18, 2017 at Updike Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Bedford  and a funeral service will follow at 1 PM in the chapel.  Interment will follow in Greenwood Cemetery.  Arrangements are being handled by Updike Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Bedford.
