Obituary of Richard Leroy Hensley

Richard Leroy Hensley, 78, of Moneta, passed away on Monday, July 31, 2023 at his residence.  He was born on Monday, July 2, 1945 to the late Elisha Hensley and Maggie Davis Hensley.  He is also preceded in death by his wife, Phyllis Jean Hatcher Hensley; several brothers & sisters.

Hoot retired from VDOT after 32 years of service.  He enjoyed fishing and being outdoors.

He is survived by his sons, Brandon Hensley (Becky) & Charlie Hensley (Shannon); grandchildren, Faith, Ryan & Serenity Hensley, Charles Rakes, Ashton, Summer & Taylor Hensley; sister, Margie Hensley; numerous nieces, nephews & other family members.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, August 13, 2023 at Moneta Community Center, N Old Moneta Road, Moneta, VA, 24121.
