Obituary of Bessie Marie Fisher

Bessie Marie Fisher, 85, of Martinsville (formerly of Bedford), passed away on Monday, August 7, 2023. She was born on Monday, August 30, 1937 in Bedford County, a daughter of the late Ruth Krantz Fisher and Edward Davis Fisher. She was also preceded in death by her sister, Linda Fisher Skarnulis and her brother, John Edward (Jack) Fisher.

Marie graduated from Bedford High school in 1956, where she was one of only three girls to receive a high school letter. She also graduated from Longwood College in 1960.

She is survived by her sister, Ruth Krantz (Kay) Fisher Neil and husband, Landon Neil, of Jacksonville, FL; three nieces and many cousins.

Funeral Services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 19, 2023 at Updike Funeral Chapel, Bedford with Pastor Phil Kelley officiating. Interment will follow at Timber Ridge Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 12 noon until service time at Updike Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Bedford.
