Obituary of Helen Ferguson Walker

Helen Ferguson Walker, 87 of  Bedford, passed away Monday, September 11, 2023 at her residence.  She was born on Friday, December 6, 1935 in Bedford County, a daughter of the late Victor Alvin Ferguson and Virginia Miller Ferguson.  She was also preceded in death by her husband, Louis James Walker.

She was retired from Sam Moore Furniture, was a member of Otterville United Methodist Church and was a devoted mother, grandmother and great grandmother.  She was an extraordinary cook and was involved with all of the children, grandchildren and great grandchildren attending all of their sporting events.  She volunteered for Bedford Bloodmobile and was a life member of the VFW.

She is survived by her sons, Randy Walker (Brenda), Donald "Duck" Walker, Jeffrey "Jody" Walker; her daughter, Wanda Massie; her grandchildren, Jeremy Walker (Rachel), Shannon Walker (Crystal), Amanda Robinette, Michael Massie (Megan), Bryan Massie (Felicia); her great grandchildren, Kayla, Gavin & Alyssa Walker, Caleb & Laney Robinette, Mason, Addison & Bailey Massie and her brother, Tucker Ferguson (Nancy).  

Funeral services will be held at 10 AM on Thursday, September 14, 2023 at Updike Funeral Chapel, Bedford with Rev. Wayne Murphy officiating.  Interment will follow in Greenwood Cemetery.  The family will receive friends from 5 until 7 PM on Wednesday, September 13th at Updike Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Bedford.
