Beatrice Calloway Poindexter, 79 of Bedford, passed away Wednesday, June 15, 2016 at her residence. She was born on Tuesday, November 24, 1936 in Bedford County, a daughter of the late Paul Calloway and Lorene Irvin Calloway.
She was retired from the Bedford County Nursing Home and was a member of Bold Branch Baptist Church.
She is survived by her sons, William L. Poindexter, Jr. & wife, Janet of Bedford, Wayne Poindexter & wife, Tracey of Goode; her sister, Irene Calloway of Bedford; her devoted nephew, Barry Calloway & wife, Deborah of Bedford; 4 grandchildren, three great grandchildren; her nieces, Norma Jean Crawford, Warnell Robinson, Patricia Calloway, three great nieces as well as special friends, Ruby Thomas, Clessie Turner, Bruce Parker & Karen Steptoe.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, June 20, 2016 at 1:00 pm at Bold Branch Baptist Church with Rev. Calvin S. Price officiating. Interment will follow in Fairmont Cemetery. The family will receive friends Sunday from 3 until 5 PM at Updike Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Bedford.
