Edith Broughman Lugar, 99 of Thaxton, passed away Thurday, September 1, 2016 at Carriage Hill Retirement Home. She was born January 5, 1917 in Botetourt County, a daughter of the late Robert David "Happy" Edwards & Cottie Smith Edwards. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Eris Dutoy Lugar.
She was retired from Rubatex Corporation and was a member of Thaxton Baptist Church.
She is survived by her brother, Roderick Edwards of Bedford; niece & caretaker, Carolyn E. Martin as well as numerous other nieces & nephews.
The family will receive friends beginning at 10 AM on Saturday, September 3, 2016 at Updike Funeral Chapel, Bedford and a funeral service will follow at 11 AM. Interment will be in Virginia Memorial Park.
Arrangements are being handled by Updike Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Bedford.
