Pearl "Penny" Carter Blankenship, 90 of Moneta, passed away Monday, September 19, 2016 at Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital. She was born on Thursday, January 14, 1926 in Van, WV, a daughter of the late William Edward Carter and Luana Workman Carter. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Charles Harrison Blankenship.
She is survived by her daughters, Patricia Hamilton of Asheville, NC, Betty Jeffery of Moneta; two sons, Charles (Dana) H. Blankenship, Jr. of Shady Spring, WV, Craig Blankenship of Vinton as well as nine grandchildren, fifteen great grandchildren and one great great grandchild.
A memorial service will be held at 2;00 PM on Saturday, September 24, 2016 at East Lake Community Church with Rev. Troy Keaton officiating.
Arrangements are being handled by Updike Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Bedford.
