Jenny was a native of Bedford County and attended Huddleston High School, where she was a champion basketball player, and met Bev through her best friend Janie. Married right after high school graduation, she stayed at home with the kids until John, the youngest, entered school. Bev bought her a new car for the commute to Roanoke where she first graduated from Virginia Western and then received her Bachelor’s degree as one of the first graduates in the Horizon program at then Hollins College. Jenny taught 5th and then 7th grade in Bedford County for 28 years and then retired early due to health issues in 2002. Despite her numerous health issues, she was determined to remain active and treasured her multiple bridge partners, book club and lunches with friends. She looked forward every year to the annual beach trip with family and was happiest when she was with her children and grandchildren- usually preparing a fabulous meal.
