Michael Douglas Carter, 59 of Moneta, passed away Saturday, March 25, 2017 at Lewis-Gale Medical Center. He was born on Wednesday, January 29, 1958 in Roanoke, a son of the late Charles Douglas Carter and Gertrude Martin Carter.
Mike was dedicated to Norfolk Southern as a welder for close to 30 years. He loved to hunt, fish, and turn a wrench while spending time with his friends and family. Mike wore an infectious smile and had a light in his eyes that was easily noticed by all that knew him. He found the positive in most difficult of situations.
He is survived by his wife, Vickie Jo Ferguson Carter; his sons, Hunter Carter, Josh Carter; his daughter, Jessica Hudson & husband, Colin; his grandchildren, Ashlin & Aiden Hudson; his sister, Helen Harris & husband, Kenneth & his brother-in-law, Bo Ferguson.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 on Wednesday, March 29, 2017 at the graveside at Radford Baptist Church Cemetery with Rev. Wayne Murphy officiating.
The family will receive friends Tuesday evening from 5 until 7 PM at Updike Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Bedford.
