John Maynard Thomas, Jr., 80 of Bedford, passed away Saturday, September 16, 2023 at the Centra Bedford Hospice House. He was born February 7, 1943, a son of the late John M. Thomas, Sr. & Eileen Holcomb Thomas.

He was retired from Rubatex Corporation having worked in Research & Development and was a member of Bedford Baptist Church. He loved God and his family, enjoyed working in his yard and garden. He also enjoyed following the weather and liked classic cars.

He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Jane Ross Thomas; his son, Frank Thomas (Alicia); his daughter, Carrie Thomas Crouch (Lee); a brother, David Thomas (Mary); his sister, Barbara Saunders (Ronnie); his granddaughter, Christen Thomas Driskill (Bradley); his grandson, Thomas Crouch (Hope); his great grandson, Henry Thomas Driskill as well as numerous nieces & nephews.

The family would like to thank the employees of Centra Bedford Hospice House for their kind and compassionate care.

The family will receive friends beginning at 10 AM on Wednesday, September 20, 2023 at Bedford Baptist Church and a funeral service will follow at 11 AM with Rev. Michael Khol, Rev. Phil Bailey & Pastor Mark Grooms officiating. Interment will follow in Greenwood Cemetery.
