Obituary of Walter Cleveland Benton

Walter Cleveland Benton, 78 of Bedford, passed away Friday, May 26, 2017 in Centra Lynchburg General Hospital.  He was born January 27, 1939 in Monroe, NC, a son of the late Aubrey Clingman Benton and Mildred Smith Benton. 

He was retired from Orion Marketing.

He is survived by his wife of forty-two years, Linda Craig Benton; three daughters, Nicole Benton Conner & husband, Russ of Waynesville, NC; Laurie Benton of Lynchburg, Krista Benton, Greenville, SC; his sons, Paul Dean Benton, Robin Benton, both of Greenville, SC; his grandchildren, Brittney, Hannah, Caleb & Jacob Conner; his sister, Melanie B. Beeson & husband, Fred, Jr. of St. Augustine, FL as well as three nieces.

A funeral service will be held at the graveside at Greenwood Cemetery at 2 PM on Sunday, May 28, 2017 with Rev. John Salley officiating.  The family will receive friends Sunday from 12 until 1:30 at Updike Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Bedford.
