Rosie Virginia Carter Lugar, 78 of Thaxton, passed away Tuesday, November 9, 2010 at Bedford Memorial Hospital. She was born on Friday, April 15, 1932 in Bedford County, a daughter of the late Tut Wiley Carter and Pernie Virginia Amos Carter. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth L. Lugar. Surviving is her son, Edwin K. Lugar of Thaxton; two sisters, Earline C. Karnes of Bedford; Iris L. Carter of Thaxton, as well as numerous nieces & nephews. Funeral services will be held on Friday, November 12, 2010 at 2:00 PM at Updike Funeral Chapel, Bedford with Rev. Larry Myers officiating. Interment will follow in Parker Family Cemetary. Friends may call Thursday after 2 PM and the family will receive friends from 7 until 9 PM at Updike Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Bedford.
