Obituary of Martha Needham Hage
Martha E. Hage, 70 of Bedford, went to be with the Lord on Monday, August 7, 2017 after a long and courageous battle with cancer. She was preceded in death by her mother & father & a son-in-law, David L. Hornady.
She is survived by her loving husband of 50 years, Robert P. Hage; her children, Lorie Hage Bowling and son-in-law, Mike; Robert T. Hage & daughter-in-law, Marianne; Corrin Hage Delumyea & son-in-law, Jonathon. Her pride and joy was to be called Granny by her seven grandchildren, Charlie Hage, Andrew Hornady, Colton Bowling, Wyatt Hage, Elijah Mils, Olivia Bowling and Sophie Mills.
Marty’s passion and calling was caring for pets. While she had many of her own, her gentle nature made her a caregiver for many other animals as well in the Bedford community for many years. Her love for animals shows through all of her children and grandchildren and her spirit will always be remembered in their actions. She was a mentor, a voice of reason, an advocate and a very loving woman. She will truly be missed.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Bedford Humane Society, 829 Old Turnpike Drive, Bedford, VA 24523 or Bedford Lutheran Church, P. O. Box 508, Bedford, VA 24253.
A special thank you to the staff at UVA and Lewis Gale Medical Center MICU for making her last days comfortable.
The family will receive friends beginning at 1:30 PM on Friday, August 11, 2017 at Updike Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Bedford and a memorial service will follow at 3 PM in the chapel with Pastor Hank Boschen officiating.
