Obituary of Perry Washington Morgan
Perry Washington "P. W. " "Crackerman" Morgan, Jr., 70 of Huddleston, passed away Thursday, September 7, 2017 at Veterans Administration Hospital in Salem. He was born on Monday, September 9, 1946 in Bedford County, a son of the late Perry W. Morgan, Sr. and Melva Kendrick Morgan. He was also preceded in death by his brother-in-law, Gary Overstreet.
He retired after 35 years as Soil Engineer with Natural Resource Conservation Service and also retired after 12 years as Senior Conservation Specialist with Blue Ridge Soil & Water Conservation District and was a lifelong farmer & owner of Morgan Farms. He was President & Chief of Saunders Volunteer Fire Company, a member of Smith Mountain Ruritans, was on the Board of Directors of Farm Bureau, and was Associate Director of Peaks of Otter Soil & Water District and was also a U. S. Army Veteran.
He is survived by his wife, Shirley Overstreet Morgan; his son, Eric T. Morgan of Huddleston; his daughter, Kimberly M. Nowocin & husband, Josh of Roanoke; his grandsons, Aiden & Tristen; his sister, Cathey M. Bays & Donnie of Huddleston; his nephews, Perry Bays, Nolan Bays & wife, Beth & their daughters, Emma Jo & Charlie Rose, Brian Bays, Aaron Overstreet, Noah Overstreet; his sister-in-law, Charlene Overstreet as well as numerous other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM on Sunday, September 10, 2017 at Updike Funeral Chapel, Bedford with Rev. Michael Tabor officiating. Interment will follow in Palestine Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends Saturday from 4 until 6 PM at Updike Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Bedford.
