Obituary of Gladys Gillispie Dooley

Gladys Gillispie Dooley, 89 of  Bedford, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, September 30, 2017.  She was born on Sunday, April 1, 1928  in Bedford County, VA, a daughter of the late Claude Gillispie and Jeffie Zimmerman Gillispie.  She joins her beloved husband of sixty-eight years, Audrey Gerald Dooley and a son, John C. Dooley who preceded her to Heaven.   

She was a member of  Flint Hill Baptist Church, where she served as Treasurer and Sunday School Teacher.  She was a retired employee of the County of Bedford.  Gladys will be remembered as a loving and devoted wife, mother & grandmother. 

She is survived by her daughter, Lynn D. Saul & husband, John; her son, Kyle T. Dooley & wife, Debra; her daughter-in-law, Brenda C. Dooley; her sister, Gayle G. McGeorge & husband, Ken as well as many beloved grandchildren and great grandchildren and her extended family of nieces & nephews.

The family will receive friends beginning at 10 AM on Tuesday, October 3, 2017 at Updike Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Bedford and a funeral service will follow at 11:30 AM in the chapel with Rev. Kyle Dooley officiating.  Interment will follow in Oakwood Cemetery.   Arrangements are being handled by Updike Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Bedford.
