Obituary of Frances Vosburg Schubert
Frances Vosburg Schubert, 86, of Bedford, passed away Tuesday, October 24, 2017 at Oakwood Manor Health & Rehabilitation Center. She was born on Tuesday, February 17, 1931 in Lynchburg, a daughter of the late Harry Morton Vosburg and Eva Pearl Coleman Vosburg. She was also preceded in death by a brother, Harry Morton Vosburg, Jr.
Fran was a graduate of Lynchburg College. She retired from the Bedford County Public School System after teaching 1st & 2nd Grades for thirty-eight years. Fran was a member of the American Association of University Women and an active member of Oakland United Methodist Church for forty-five years. After retirement, Frances enjoyed traveling with friends around Europe and the United States.
She is survived by her daughter, Suzanne G. Schubert of Bedford; her sons, John M. Schubert & wife, Beth, of Lynchburg, Barry V. Schubert & wife, Tricia, of Bedford; her grandsons, Thomas & James Schubert; a brother, Malcolm Owen Vosburg & wife, Janice, of Amherst; nephew, Owen Vosburgh & nieces, Annmarie Cash, Lisa Vosburgh Mays, Marie Vosburg-Pennington.
Funeral services will be held at 12 noon on Saturday, October 28, 2017 at Oakland United Methodist Church with Rev. Kent Wise & Rev. Tom Thomas officiating. Interment will follow in Virginia Memorial Park. The family will receive friends Friday from 5 until 7 PM at Updike Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Bedford.
