Obituary of Margaret Slusher Turner
Margaret Slusher Turner of Forest, born April 14, 1927 passed away peacefully the evening of November 19, 2017. Margaret or "Maw" grew up in Roanoke, raised her children in Bedford and later watched her grandchildren grow up while living in Forest.
She was the daughter of the late Clyde L. & Thelma J. Slusher of Roanoke. She was also preceded in death by a son, Thomas Andrew "Andy" Turner of Lynchburg and a brother, Clyde L. Slusher, Jr. of Roanoke.
"Maw's" greatest joy was time spent with her family. She loved and guided them as only she could. She also enjoyed many fun times with the "Beach Bunch" and Red Hats of Bedford.
She is survived by her children, Donald C. "Donny" Turner (Carrie) and Jeanne T. Thacker (Jim) all of Forest; five grandchildren, Ashley Wilson (Brian), Andy Turner (Mackenzie), Jake Turner, Brennan Thacker (Melinda) & Graham Thacker; four great grandchildren, Jack & Logan Wilson, Kendyll & Chelsea Thacker. She is also survived by her older brother, Jack W. Slusher (Merle) as well as many nieces & nephews.

A funeral service will be held at 3 PM on Wednesday, November 22, 2017 at Updike Funeral Chapel, Bedford with Rev. Rick Dellinger officiating. Interment will follow in Greenwood Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Tuesday evening from 6 until 8 PM at Updike Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Bedford.
