Phyllis Mayhew Witt, 82 of Bedford, passed away Friday, December 24, 2010 at the Bedford County Nursing Home. She was born on Monday, January 16, 1928 in Bedford County, a daughter of the late Roy Mayhew and Janie Sue Fifer Mayhew. She was a retired employee of Sam Moore Furniture, was a Charter Member of the Women of the Moose #1005, former President of the Ladies Auxillary of the Bedford VFW and was a lifetime member of Bedford Christian Church. Surviving are her sons, Stephen K Witt & wife, Beth of Moneta, Walter R. Witt & wife, Debra of Bedford; daughters, Barbara W. Howell & husband, Mike of Vinton, Dianne W Ellis & husband, Bobby of Goodview; a special niece, Sharon Laughlin of Bedford; six grandchildren, four great grandchildren; and her beloved Rusty. Box 76, Bedford, VA 24253. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, December 28, 2010 at 11:00 AM at the Bedford Christian Church with Rev. Bill Moore and Rev. Charles Moore officiating.
