Obituary of Arthur Blankenship

Arthur "Buddy" Blankenship, 82 born in Bedford on Tuesday, February 5, 1935 went to be with our Lord on Monday, November 27, 2017.  He was preceded in death by his loving son, Timothy Wayne Blankenship; his parents, Arthur and Ida Blankenship; and sisters, Edith Leach and Doris Jones.

Those left to cherish his memory are his loving wife of 62 years, Betty Dinwiddie Blankenship; son, Alan Blankenship; daughters, Wanda Ford and Elizabeth Blankenship; grandchildren, Hannah & Evie Blankenship, Reece & Kaelyn Blankenship and James & Malise Ford; several nieces, nephews and his very special friend, David Gonce.

Buddy attended University of Virginia on a football scholarship where he perused a degree in engineering. He especially loved his artwork and traveling extensively in the US and abroad.

Buddy was a wonderfully loving, caring man, enjoying life to the fullest. His favorite thing in life was spending time with his many family and friends:  A free sprit that never knew a stranger.

In lieu of flowers, Buddy would have requested donations be made to the Alzheimer's Association or to your local Animal Shelter.

The family will receive friends beginning at 12 pm on Saturday, December 2, 2017 at Updike Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Bedford and the funeral service will  follow at 2 pm in the funeral home chapel.  Interment will follow at Virginia Memorial Park.
