Obituary of Dorothy Newman Newman

Dorothy Newman Newman, 84 of Forest, passed away Saturday, December 9, 2017 at Heartland Health Care Center.  She was born on Wednesday, March 22, 1933 in Franklin County,  a daughter of the late Benjamin Newman and Lura Chambers Newman.  She was also preceded in death by her daughter, Donna Spain, her sisters, Ethel Tanner, Hilda Burnette & Doris Martin & her brothers, Edward  Newman & Stafford Newman.  

She was a longtime member of Timberlake United Methodist Church and was competitive in cards and duck pins.  

She is survived by her husband of sixty-three years, Cody Gibson Newman; a son, Darrell G. Newman of Lynchburg; her brother, Alfred Newman & wife, Nancy of Bedford; son-in-law, Simmons Spain; and a foster brother, Lewis Burgess.  

The family requests those wishing to make memorials to consider Terrace View Baptist Church Cemetery Fund, c/o Lewis Nunn, 4860 Bellevue Road, Forest, VA 24551.  

The family will receive friends Wednesday, December 13, 2017 from 1 until 5 at the home.

A funeral service will be held at the graveside at Terrace View Baptist Church Cemetery at 3:00 PM on Thursday, December 14, 2017 with Rev. Brad McMullen officiating.  Arrangements are being handled by Updike Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Bedford.
