Obituary of Tommy Lynn Cox

Tommy Lynn Cox, 62, of Bedford entered into eternal peace on December 22, 2017.

Tommy was born in Bedford County, Virginia on December 17, 1955, a son of the late Thomas Jefferson Cox and Rachel Johnson Cox.

Tommy was a master carpenter and owner of TLC Remodeling in Fayetteville, North Carolina. He took great pride in his work and accomplishments. He had a passion for building things, spending time at the beach, cooking ribs and his canine companions Bella and Abby. He was a member of Oakland United Methodist Church in Goode, Virginia. 

In addition to his father and mother, he was preceded in death by his brother, James (Jimmy) Lee Cox; sister, Mary Cox King; and brother, Leslie (Teddy) Gearhart Jr.

He is survived by his soul mate Suzanne Schubert; sisters, Brenda Willard, Judy Cheek, Sandra Mason and husband, Aubrey, Dina Garinian Daniels and husband, Paul, Penny Davis; brothers, Larry Cox, Toby Cox and wife, Kathy, John Kimsey Harkrader and wife, Joan, Marcus James Nichols and wife, Debra, James Beavers and wife, Joyce; a special niece, Jessica King Tolley and husband, Brian; and numerous other family and friends. His cousin, Doug Fielder and caregiver, Connie Hobbs were special to Tommy.

He will be missed by many and remembered by all who knew him.  In lieu of flowers, the family suggests a donation to your local SPCA in Tommy’s name.


A celebration of his life will be held at 11 AM on Saturday, January 6, 2018 at Updike Funeral Chapel, Bedford.
